While European drivers have long favored fuel-efficient minicars, the U.S. has always followed a "bigger is better" philosophy. Back in the mid-2000s, rising gas prices forced many Jasper drivers turned to smaller models like the Ford Fiesta.

Gas prices are down again, however, and automakers have seen a surge in sales for larger SUVs and trucks.

Could this spell the end of the Ford Fiesta in America?

Ford recently unveiled the 2018 Fiesta at the Geneva Auto Show, the first in the model's next generation. The all-new Fiesta is stiffer, quieter, and features more advanced safety technology than ever before—however, Carscoops.com spoke with Fiesta program management supervisor Robert Stiller, who suggested it may only be sold in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

"In North America, especially in the US, China and Latin America, the demand for such cars is declining, and we are reacting accordingly," he told Carscoops.

Despite being praised by critics for its fun driving dynamic and affordable price tag, the Fiesta has never sold quite as well as its larger stablemate, the Ford Focus. If the rumors are true, will you be sad to see the subcompact go, or have you moved on to bigger and better things?
